Overview
The Professional Master’s study programme “Information technology” aim is to educate high qualification specialists for professional activity in the field of Technologies and Telecommunication with specialization in Software Engineering or Management of Information Technology projects.
Programme structure
The size of the Professional Master’s study programme is 132 ECTS for 2 years.
The study programme A PART is formed by General education courses in the volume of 36 ECTS.
General education courses (36 ECTS): Study Project (IT project planning), General Quality Management, Project Management and Modelling of Business Processes, Latvian Language I, II.
The study program B PART is created by branch professional specialization courses in the volume of 96 ECTS.
IT project management: Business Intelligence, Finansial Management, Human Resource Management, Study project (IT project implementation). Qualification practice I, II, Research practice.
Master thesis: 30 ECTS
Tasks:
1. to provide critically reflecting understanding of conceptual knowledge in the field of Environmental sciences and to develop students’ specialisation skills to apply such knowledge in the field of Environment Engineering, Environment Economics, Society Health;
2. to promote development of professional skills in the field of Ecotechnologies according to the requirements of labour market, social, environmental and economical skills, and also to promote creative and critical thinking of students;
3. to involve students into research activities, creation of innovations and transfer thereof into Economics, Environment and Social field;
4. to promote the feeling of belonging to the united European educational space and abilities and skills to constructively evaluate variety thereof.
Career opportunities
After obtaining Professional Master’s degree graduates can work in organizations that carry out software development, deployment, maintenance, providing information technology consulting and information systems audit.
Graduates can continue their education in Liepaja University doctoral “E-Study Technologies and Management” study programme or in other Latvian universities or abroad.
